The disputed border area between Thailand and Cambodia around the ancient Preah Vihear temple has seen fighting breaking out over the weekend, despite an informal truce between the two sides which had been upheld until the clashes which begun on Friday last week.

There have been a handful of military casualties but no civilians have been reported to have been hurt, although thousands of villagers in the region on both sides of the border have been evacuated as a precaution. There haven't been any reports of further fighting yet today (Monday), but the situation does still remain tense and it's possible that trouble might flare up again.

This disputed land area is very far away from Thailand tourist destinations and so no tourists are affected by these incidents. All tourist attractions around Thailand and Cambodia are operating as normal and Asia World tours do not pass through this area.
